April 28 — World Occupational Safety Day 2025

Every year, on April 28, many countries celebrate World Labor Protection Day. This date has been set by the International Labour Organization as an occasion to recall the importance of protecting people‘s lives and health in the workplace.
The origins of this day date back to 1989, when in the USA and Canada, for the first time, trade unions held actions in memory of workers who died or were injured in the performance of their duties. Over time, the initiative acquired an international scale, and in 2003, the ILO officially established April 28 as a day dedicated to occupational safety and health.
The main purpose of the events is to draw attention to the problems of industrial safety, reduce the level of injuries and prevent occupational diseases.
